Houston Rescue and Restore Coalition and CHILDREN AT RISK to Hold Press Conference to Announce Human Trafficking Awareness Week
– September 17, 10:00 a.m., outside of Houston City Hall
HOUSTON (September 13, 2024) – Human trafficking is a crime that lies beneath the surface of society. Not many people are aware of the problem. Those who may be aware have trouble spotting it. That’s the reason why Houston’s first Human Trafficking Awareness Week, being observed September 17-21, has the theme “Look Beneath the Surface.”
At the press conference, organizers will discuss this growing problem and recently passed legislation, as well as launch a new marketing campaign aimed at raising awareness and abolishing this illegal activity.
When: Monday, September 17, 10:00 a.m.
Where: Houston City Hall – Outside on steps
Who: Houston City Council Member Ada Edwards, State Representatives Debbie Riddle and Senfronia Thompson, First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Texas Tim Johnson, Alan Steen of TABC (Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission), Houston Rescue and Restore Coalition, and CHILDREN AT RISK.
