Catholics aren’t killing people in droves for being Gay or Christian. They don’t beat their women or go around raping them because their religion says its okay.
Look at Cologne Germany and you can see exactly why these people are scared of radical islamic refugees coming here. Christians aren’t perfect but their religion is rather tame in comparison to islam.

Anyway, if you’re looking for sex crimes in organized religion, they’ve all got them. The Catholic Church is probably the most notorious, and is way more of a direct threat to U.S. children (the people Islamophobic Americans allege they’re out to protect) yet you never see them outside the thousands of catholic churches around the U.S. with guns, or chanting about how they want a ban on all Catholic immigrants.

Yall are just scared and misunderstood in your analysis of global politics. You treat Islam as this existential boogeyman that must be stopped at all costs when in and of itself it isn’t any more or less capable of destruction than any other organized religions (and by that I also include white supremacist U.S. exceptionalism). Just take a deep breath and realize there’s more to this shit than you think there is.

There are some good interviews here. Why no interviews with any of the counter-protesters? In addition to Muslim folks standing up for themselves, you had scores of Mexican, Central American, and Black people of all ages who decided to show out in solidarity for a variety of different reasons. I think this was a missed opportunity to engage why racialized people (particularly those three groups) don’t buy the explanation given by dude in the baseball hat (Muslims come in all races, its not racism, it’s anti radical Islam but also Islam overall) because it contradicts our own historical experience. They’ll make up a 1001 reasons why your existence is a threat to them without explicitly mentioning race/nationality, but we’ve been through this shit long enough to see through it. Again, not knocking any of the interviews or footage that was included, but as someone who attended the counter-protest it is disappointing to see a publication like FPH spend more time engaging the political ideology of the #whitelivesmatter crew than the larger, far more diverse (in age and gender as well) group of folks confronting them.
