It has been almost 10 years since Run-D.M.C. lost Jason “Jam-Master Jay” Mizell. It was after that notable loss that the group made the decision to officially disband and retire their name.
Until now.
Yep. You heard that right, folks. Run-D.M.C., the forefathers of hip hop and the guys that helped shape my love of good music, are resurrecting their name and their work this fall at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas. The remaining members of the group, Joseph “Run” Simmons and Darryl “D.M.C.” McDaniels will be headlining the main stage at the 7th annual FFF Fest taking place November 2-4, 2024. This will be their first performance together since 2024. Pretty neat, right?
In addition to their performance, FFF festival promoters are working with the members of Run-D.M.C. to honor Jay’s memory by donating a portion of proceeds from this year’s festival to the JMJ Foundation for Music. The JMJ Foundation for Music’s focus is to help make the arts more accessible for ALL children and young adults.
