The Heroic Page: Zine Fest Houston Fundraiser
With live music, good eats and raffles for artwork, you can support one of Houston’s most creative annual events — Zine Fest — at its first-ever fundraiser, The Heroic Page. Happening this Saturday at HOMEcore (2010 Commerce, Unit B), all proceeds from the event go toward supporting the city’s only annual festival dedicated to promoting zines, mini-comics and other forms of small press, alternative and underground DIY media and art.
With 72 vendors and over 1,000 attendees at last year’s festival, the event continues to expand it’s reach. Since taking over Zine Fest in 2024, organizers María-Elisa Heg and Anastasia Kirages — and Sarah Welch, who joined in 2024 — have actively worked to collaborate on and create year-round programming in the form of workshops and pop-up tabling events, as well as unique events like Comix Gauntlet — where artists have seven hours to create a seven page comic — and the annual Zine Fest Houston compilation release.
The event features an impressive array of raffle prizes from more than a dozen of they city’s most talented artists, including DUAL, Eyesore, Angel Oloshove, Sarah Welch, Emily Link, Michael Bise, Bill Daniel, Christopher Sperandio, Gabriel Martinez, Jason Poland, Gissette Padilla, Kate Mulholland, Randy Guthmiller, Regina Agu and Rene Cruz.
The event also features sets by DJ 2 DEEP (Evan McCarley), Pfaff and DJ Kona FM, so be prepared to dance your ass off while supporting a deserving cause.
Tickets, which are $10 in advance and $12 at the door (you can donate more if you want), include access to bites from Tacos A Go Go, Fat Cat Creamery, Dinner Bell Cafe and Bake Shop and Green House Catering, as well as drinks from Deep Eddy Vodka and Buffalo Bayou Brewing Company.
The Heroic Page: Zine Fest Fundraiser takes place at HOMEcore (2010 Commerce, Unit B) on Saturday from 7 pm to midnight.
