After sitting with blank stares for the first minute of this new sludgy electro banger from Tobacco was “This shit is fucking BAD-ASS” and my friend listening to it with me was like “uh YEAH”. We are both elitist, asshole, music snobs so to come to that conclusion and ONLY that, is a self-proclaimed, bold, statement. The hook is this droned robot voice repeating the words, “ride motherfucker ride” which, in and of itself is a masterstroke. As far as Im concerned, Tobacco has yet to fail or strike out in anyway, hailing from electro-psych gods, Black Moth Super Rainbow, he is on a path to being an ascended master of his craft. I usually prefer Tobacco’s stuff with darker notes and “Streaker” does not hold back the assault, effortlessly employing distorted, organ-like minor keys over a half time, half sludge, half doom beat that reminisces of NIN’s “Downward Spiral” b-sides. The title credits someone named “Notrabel” and while I have no idea who that is or what they did on this track, it still fucking bangs and says “motherfucker” a lot so, Im sold.
