All I can hope is that all of you counter my vote with "Against"!!I wish I’d seen this before I voted. I did vote “For” because of the very reason you stated. I think not as I can get anywhere in the city using public transportation in NYC or Chicago or even Boston. All those cities are connected to the airport and easy for passengers coming into the city. Houston it takes more then a hour from Hobby airport and 2 from the other airport. They took out the direct lines claiming there is no profits. What they tried is to charge 18 bucks at first for a direct line to downtown. They could not get the ridership so they changed to a plan for a 4 dollar fee with stops at all the hotels downtown. That was better but they still did not get the profit they wanted so they cut the route and from the big airport there is only the 102 which goes north of the airport first and takes a long time to get into town. The 8.2 mile light rail has ridership because metro bus lines so people had to take the rail to get where they where going. Most of the routes they rerouted are from the neighborhoods with people that are depending on public transportation. Metro has for years wasted money and that will continue and I dought by the way if the Superbowl will come back to Houston.I dont know about ridership per mile but successful? Then what? METRO looses a full 1%, much of which they collect from communities they don\'t serve. Voting No, in the short and long term will severely hurt the future of the MTA.And if you vote no, them the Metro Cities and County have support in the legislature to pull of the MTA. Then what? FvondoomWed, 24 Oct 2025 19:08:19 +0000http://freepresshouston.com/?p=14350#comment-82520Thanks for this article! So many people aren't going to vote because they think their vote won't count. These people don't realize you are voting for more than just the presidency, and wonder how things like this passed and how local nuisance get put into office.
To answer your question, Bill B., you can find your ballot on the Harris County Votes website http://www.harrisvotes.com/voterballotsearch.aspx?L=EThanks for this article! METRO is really the only item on the ballot that is that confusing, but the guides at lwvhouston.org give a good overview of the local issues.Just ran across a good one on the League of Women Voters site.
