The Houston Dynamo fell 3-1 to the L.A. Galaxy yesterday in the Major League Soccer Championship final at the Home Depot stadium in Carson City, California. Before the match even started, it had been built up as a grand swan song for star player David Beckham who announced he was not coming back to the league next year after playing for five years. There was also much talk of American star Landon Donovan not coming back and looking at other options – which was also a major talking point pre-game. Yet, there was little to no talk of Houston’s success story ... Read More »

Feed SubscriptionSports Brief: Soccer: Houston Dynamo Earn Spot in MLS Cup December 1
By: Rad Rich The Dynamo advance to the the final leg of Major League Soccer’s Eastern Conference, following a second leg playoff match in Washington against DC United. After winning 3-1 at home in the first leg, in Houston the Dynamo only had to at least draw or hold United to one goal in the second leg. DC United were suffering from injuries but were confident that being at home would be in their advantage. The first half of the game, DC United came out strong, keeping Houston at bay with some strong attacks. But it was the goal by Oscar Boniek ... Read More »
Texans Survive OT Thriller, 9-1
By Maxwell Morgan Sunday, the Texans hosted the division rival Jacksonville Jaguars in what would turn into an overtime thriller capped by a game winning touchdown reception for Andre Johnson. The Jags (aka Glitter Kitties) are one of the worst teams in the NFL. The Texans are one of the best. Everyone, including myself, had the glitter kitties written off. This game was going to be a blowout, right? Wrong! The Jags came to play and had the Texans up against the ropes much of the second half. Still, The Texans showed tremendous grit battling back to erase a 14 ... Read More »

The Dynamo kicked it off with a 3-1 victory, and the Texans capped the night pounding out a 13-6 victory. Things were looking shaky at first for the Dynamo letting in a first half goal and not producing much on the offensive side of ... Read More »
Texans and Dynamo Double Up W’s
After taking a week off for their bye week, the Texans were back Sunday to host the 3-4 Buffalo Bills. Poor Buffalo, it’s so damn cold, and they’ve been so mediocre/bad for so long. The Buffalo fans were a nice bunch though. Very friendly and humble. They’d try to throw the miraculous comeback all those years ago against the Oilers in our face, but like I mentioned earlier in the season, screw the Oilers, different team. These ain’t the damn “spOilers” either, as the Texans handled the Bills 21-9 in a game that they didn’t quite dominate like many would ... Read More »

Another Sports Brief
In soccer (or “football” in other countries), the Houston Dynamo are ranked first place in the Eastern Conference, as they defeated the NY Red Bulls here in Houston last Friday night. One goal was made by Houston’s Jermain Taylor 2 minutes into the match, and another goal by Calen Carr in the 28th minute was enough for the Dynamo win. The Red Bulls played slowly and out of synch– the Houston heat seemed too much for them. This was the 3rd time in the team’s history that they have won five consecutive games. They have also remained unbeaten in 19 ... Read More »
