What is occurring is far deeper than gentrification. In this 21st Century version of carpetbagging,cultures are being destroyed and populations being resettled and disenfranchised. the next step will be further marginalization,then eradication.There isn’t a lot of vision,aforethought,or consideration in building Manhattan-style apartment blocks(with Manhattan-style rents),thrown up in four months, and dumping another 5000 cars onto two lane streets.People complained about traffic 20 years ago.
