When I have a hankerin’ for creamy French feta, fresh pita and persian cucumbers, I make my way over to Phoenicia. It is the only place I have found that carries some of the novelty items I grew to love during my visits to Iran. For many people, Phoenicia is a place to get a little piece of home and for others it is a place to get delicious handmade foods.
For 30 years, Phoenicia has been providing more than just shawarmas—they know the importance of a strong community. They have been supporting the local community arts, education, environment and human services through organizations including SEARCH Homeless Services, Society for the Performing Arts Houston and Houston Food Bank. Mirroring the diversity of the city, Phoenicia offers specialty foods from all over the world including the Mediterranean, Western and Eastern Europe.
To celebrate their 30 years in this wonderful city, Phoenicia is hosting a 1983 themed Grocery Get Down on November 9th from 8pm-2am at MKT BAR in their downtown location. In addition to performances by DJ Portal Walker and ’80s cover band Depressed Mode there will be ’80s inspired light bites, boutique wines, craft beer and cocktail specials. Grab your leg warmers and your Members Only jackets (’80s dress is encouraged) and head to MKT BAR. You won’t want miss this!
