Braque & Magritte rock the canvas
Two current fine art exhibits highlight some of the best works by known name artists. Georges Braque: A Retrospective (Museum of Fine Arts, Houston through May 11, 2024) and Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary, 1926 – 1938 (Menil Collection through June 1, 2024) are must-see destinations for art aficionados and curiosity seekers alike.
Braque is associated with Cubism while Magritte is a mainstay of the Surrealism movement. The MFAH has 75 Braque collages and paintings and is considered the most comprehensive tour of his work in over 25 years. Over at the Menil Collection a bunch of tie-in events include a March 28 outdoor film screening (1533 Sul Ross) at 8 pm. that will showcase some home movies of René Magritte.
