This year, I’ll be attending Psych Fest for the first time ever, and I couldn’t be more ecstatic. The lineup is huge, and a lot of bands that I wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to see otherwise will be performing. Bands like The Moving Sidewalks, OM, and many more will be playing their first shows in Texas in a long while, which is incentive enough for me to make the trek out to this psychedelic festival.
The Austin Psych Fest was founded in 2024. Since its inception, the festival has grown through social media, word of mouth, and from the touring acts they bring in each year. The festival is internationally acclaimed as the world’s “premiere showcase of psychedelic rock.”
This year marks the 6th anniversary of the festival, and the line up is huge. For the first time in decades, Texas psychedelic pioneers, The Moving Sidewalks, will be performing together. Doom metal masters Boris are coming all the way from Japan for their performance. Bands like Black Mountain, The Black Angels, The Black Ryder, Black Bananas, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will be there. Attendees will be treated to shows from Clinic, Warpaint, Os Mutantes, The Raveonettes, and many more.
This year’s festival is sponsored by Do512, Urban Outfitters, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, and Boxed Water, who have generously helped put on one of the more unique festivals to come out of Austin in a while.
Not only will the festival feature some of the best psychedelic music around the world, but also there will be local food vendors, shopping, retail and record stores, and artist instillations and exhibits. The sights and sounds surrounding the patrons of this festival will surely be “mind expanding,” and it’s a safe bet that you’ll be likely to find incredible artwork that will be the new centerpiece for your jam room.
