This year, I’ll be attending Psych Fest for the first time ever, and I couldn’t be more ecstatic. The lineup is huge, and a lot of bands that I wouldn’t normally get the opportunity to see otherwise will be performing. Bands like The Moving Sidewalks, OM, and many more will be playing their first shows in Texas in a long while, which is incentive enough for me to make the trek out to this psychedelic festival. The Austin Psych Fest was founded in 2024. Since its inception, the festival has grown through social media, word of mouth, and from the ... Read More »

LCB Army Invades Houston
“I’m addicted to Oi!” Bones cries out to the crowd with sweat pouring down his face. The crowd ignites and the floor begins to move. The Alley Cat Project
The image that your brain matter pieces together whenever someone says “back alley” is typically anything but romantic. You probably think of shady drug deals, illicit car sex, and Italian mobsters performing activities with baseball bats that never quite made it into the MLB’s official handbook. But back alley’s have served purposes other than providing cozy spaces for people to get their hands red without getting caught. Artists throughout the decades have saturated these urban canvases with their creativity. Back alley murals become a part of a city’s culture and society. But some residents who occupy the urban buildings pushed together on sidewalks, think of ... Read More »

Show your hometown insecurity by wearing your “I’m not moving to Austin” T-Shirt
Back when Craig Kinsey wore an “I’m not moving to Austin” shirt at Summerfest it was, I guess, a mildly amusing poke at our good neighbors in our fair capital. Then, oddly enough, I began to see the shirt on a few more bodies - decidedly lame. Turns out, what I didn’t realize at the time was that Zen Hill Kinsey was, at least at one point, selling these shirts. Yes, that’s right! For $15 plus S&H, you could get your own “I’m not moving to Austin” shirt, in either black or white - small to 2XL for men and small to XL for women. E-mail them ... Read More »

Cocktales: Use your ill communication
By: Dr. Absinthe One of those most liberating sexual experiences I’ve had was with an out-of-town friend whose place I was crashing at one weekend. We had gone on a few coffee shop dates while he lived in Houston and had become friends, but we never moved beyond that to make it to either of our bedrooms before he moved. After he agreed to house me for the weekend while I was visiting his town he said there was a futon I could have full reign of but he also mentioned he found me attractive and was always welcome to ...
