VISUAL ARTISTS: Erin Joyce, Theresa Tran, Nico Whittaker, Tony Parana, Jordan Sills, Vincent Fink, Natasha Ninjason, Jennifer Eli, Paty Lennon, M.H. Draper, Joy Beckler, Jesse Perry

That list was so long that you probably forgot that there was more stuff going on this weekend.  Well there is.  Here is an incomplete list…

Thursday, January 20

Changoman @ The Continental Club - The popular Latin inspired rock band hits the Continental Club.

Evil Spirits @ Super Happy Fun Land  - I don’t know about you but this live footage of Evil Spirits looks pretty awesome [ http://vimeo.com/6351876 ]

Friday, January 21

A Night of Metal Mayhem, featuring Dissent, Termination Force, Turbid North, Assassinator, Sculpting Atrocity, & Vaste Burai @ The White Swan - Pretty fucking awesome and brutal lineup.  My only question is should I bring my good Canon SLR or just play it safe and bring the battle weary Kodak point and shoot?

The Pharcyde , Ozeal , Nosaprise, BBC, Karina Nistal, Dayta, DJ Madsounds, DJ Fred Castillo @ Groundhall - Old School Hip Hop taks on some of Houston’s finest.

Fistful of Soul @ The Mink - Expect DJ’s to play a hella lotta  Soul, R&B, Reggae, and Ska until you are danced out at 2am.

Keller Williams @ Fitzgerald’s Dude played with String Cheese Incident.  I think that says it all.

The Belleville Outfit @ McGonigel’s Mucky Duck - Pleasant enough Americana band that mixes Big Band, Jazz, and Swing elements.   They’d fit in quite well on Prarie Home Companion and that’s really not meant in a bad way.

Saturday, January 22

NOFX / The Bouncing Souls/Cobra Skulls/Old Man Markley/Latch Key Kids @ House of Blues San Francisco Punkers return.  Just make sure not to drink anything Fat Mike Might give you.

One Mic Houston 2nd Anniversary, featuring El Prez, Hero & Rad, Dustin Prestige, RE, 4th N Inchez, The Boy Illinois, Nya with Atmosphere, H-Kane, Montana, D-Risha, Young Sensation, 3Bubble, Purple Bastard, Ensane, Twenty Eleven, Lower Life Form, Uzoy, O.N.E., Tha Centop, P.K.T., Hollywood Floss, Tommy Bumps, hasHBrown, Jett I. Masstyr, Dante Higgins, Nosaprise, John Dew, Thurogood Wordsmith, The Forces, Dice, The Niyat, Tim Ned, Ace Boogie, Kritkal, London Wilson, Danny Watts, Tawn P, Rock Show, Undergravity, Juzcoz, Hip-Phonix, The League of Extraordinary G’z, & more @ Groundhall - This monthly Hip-hop showcase comes in second place for most artists at one event.

Tattooed For Good: Montrose Tattoo Shop Fundraiser Festival for ASSISTHERS, featuring Mantis, The Manichean, Skeleton Dick, Outer Heaven, Nikoo, Cadre, Mike Perkins, Another Run, The American Heist, DJ Darrell Ripley, DJ Mace, Big Deli, & DJ MIG @ Westheimer Rd. (between Stanford & Yupon; (12PM-12AM) - Lots of bands getting together for a good cause.  As per the website, “Seventy percent of the proceeds of the event will be donated to AssistHers.  The Montrose-based AssistHers non-profit organization provides non-medical support to lesbian women struggling with chronic, debilitating, or terminal illnesses.”

Slim Thug, Z-Ro @ Arena Theatre - My friend says, “Slim Thug more hard core and thuggish black and gangster but Zero has more soul and melody in his music.    So, I guess I’d fuck some ho’s with Zero but Slim Thug might prison fuck me.”  Not sure if that explains it but…OK!

Los Skarnales, The Jungle Rockers, Murder the Stout, Idiginis @ Fitzgerald’s - Toss in Ska, Rockabilly, Samba, and just about anythign else you can think in the pot and you’ve got the Skarnales.

Metal Summit 4, featuring Turbid North, Assassinator, & Vaste Burai @ Sound Exchange (free!; 8PM) - This show is pretty awesome and would have been my pick for the show of the week if the Main Street show wasn’t so over the top.  For my money, you can’t not have a good time over at any Sound Ex. show.

The Hates, Carl Hayn @ Walter’s - There can be only one Punk Rock Highlander - the Hates!

Tuesday, January 25

The Memorials, Just Like Vinyl, Outer Heaven/Disfrutalo! @ Fitzgerald’s - Attention Mars Volta Fans, you may recall Thomas Pridgen behind the drum kit a while back.  Well he’s got a band fools.  Check it out.

Roughhausen (ex-Front Line Assembly)/Serum Fantis/DeadSkeleton/E.G./God’s Wounds @ Super Happy Fun Land. - Attention, Electronica fans.  Super Happy Funland is likely where you want to be tonight.

Wednesday, January 26

Robert Ellis & The Boys @ Fitzgerald’s - You can’t get much better on than Robert and his crew on Wednesdays.
