Be sure to invite Craig Robinson at your next party

Craig Robinson performed at The Improv and I’m using the word “performed” very loosely. Craig Robinson does stand up? I had no idea what to expect, but on the other hand it was EXACTLY what I expected. Craig didn’t tell a damn comedic bit.
He had a keyboard on stage and he sang songs from Billie Joel to “The Birthday Song”. He is not a comedian, but he kept all 200 plus people inside that club that night on the edge of their seat laughing hysterically.

Craig Robinson is “that guy” that interrupts a party by half ass playing bits and pieces of every rock anthem he knows. The crowd sang along until he would play another song and the crowd would applause and sing again. With each song he would some times extrapolate each song. “This is what the bride gets to walk to when she’s getting married!”. And he would play “The Wedding March”. “And for you guys! We get nothing! This is how it should be!” He would then begin to play the soundtrack to the movie “Rockie”. He explained how “The Wedding March” has the same chord progression as “The Funeral March”. He would play the two and surprisingly enough they sounded quite the same. Coincidence for the groom?

Robinson throwing the first dance with a little pitch at the Astros before his performance.

Shot after shot after shot after shot his performance turned into “Hey you! Wanna take a picture with me! Get up here on stage!” Very intoxicated, the show was extended to an additional 45 minutes. Craig would incorporate the words “Take your panties off” into each of his songs and finally a woman threw her panties on stage. He immediately stops playing his music and shoves the used panties inside his mouth! He also dropped his pants to his knees and air-fucked a woman for a picture. So once it was time for my interview Shawn and I were escorted to backstage where we were highly entertained by Craig’s drunken behavior. I could only imagine how it is to work with this man. His comedy did not end once he stepped off stage. He does not stop! He’s just a genuinely funny guy to hangout with!

My interview is not what you would say is a legit interview and the least bit of professional. I had only two questions for him. I decided to not edit this video interview, because the more I watched it the more I thought it was hilarious. If I edited it then I would be hiding who Craig really is.

Craig Robinson is lending his voice to the final chapter of Shrek: Forever After as Cookie. Be sure to see it in theaters.

Major thanks to all the staff at The Improv. Isaac, Raymond, Shaggy, and others thanks for your hospitality! PREESH!
