Polka till you drop
Friday night Houston will experience a rare blast from the past as CBGB’s era, Ramones contemporaries, garage-rock veterans, The Fleshtones at the Continential Club. Michael Bublé will also be playing at Verizon.
Remember when Weird Al Yankovic was really funny? I know that I do. His latest stuff isn’t nearly as good as the classic “Bad Hair Day” or “Dare to be stupid” but he’s still an American legend and probably the standard bearer for novelty music worldwide after figures like Dr. Demento left the scene. He’ll be at the Verizon Theater on Saturday night polka-ing the night away. Austin-born, Russian musicians The Invincible Czars will play their unique brand of folk rock at Rud’s with local favorite Come See My Dead Person. Nineties grunge darlings and Texas natives Toadies will be performing at the House of Blues at 8.
There aren’t many shows on Sunday but if you’re desperate for entertainment concert you could hit up the House of Blues for international tribute band The Australian Beegees Show. Choose wisely, Houston.
