Many questions became to creep from below such as zombies themselves escaping their tombs in cemeteries. Who is doing this fest? Why Tom Bass Park? Didn’t they just find a dead body where the fest is going to be? So I’ve decided to contact the guys that are running this amazing event and have the questions answered by them directly. So here is what Collean has to say about the fest that she and her friends have been working hard on.

How did you guys select the artists?

The artist list originally started with looking at who was going to be in the area with the Voodoo Festival, and it slowly developed into what we have. Of the bands that we have now, Hot ChipPeanut Butter Wolf came first. Hot Chip was on Voodoo and LunaFace has worked with PBW in the past. Girl in a ComaScale the Summit, & Trail of Dead came next, and then Daniel Johnston. We then looked intoBad BrainsWe Are Scientists. You can see the diversity in previous LunaFace shows. It was alot of fun putting this together and seeing the end result before the announcement. As our final artist to announce, we wanted to make sure we added someone that would throw people off guard and scratch their heads. We found an amazing musician and performer and that’s how we got Macy Gray. It was a really fun experience and we’re all thrilled by the line-up that we have and the diversity that it represents. After all, Music should be blind and everyone’s taste is different, unique, and valid.

There are many places for festivals in Houston so why Pearland?

We really needed a location away from the city so that there would be more of a true festival experience. Rather than being in a situation where we wake up go downtown or go to a parking lot and see a bunch of bands. By having it in a park you have a separation from your everyday life it automatically becomes an event. Tom Bass was a no brainer for us because it already has an amphitheatre stage and set up, we’re just expanding to the second stage and skate park and other areas of interest to add to the experience.

Have you guys done any other festivals?

Each of the three of us have done “festivals” of some sort in the past. Mark in ‘95 did a 10 hour 1 stage 10 band fest, and Hector has done several multi-band all day shows and Lunafest which drew about 800 people. I don’t think any of us has implemented something to this scale before, but for the past 4 years we’ve tried to get it off the ground.

So there you have it! Houston is really excited to see this festival. Tickets can be purchased at Cactus Music, Kingpinz Skate shop, or online at www.ghoulsfest.com Tickets are just $45 for an all day pass!
